Thinking of a fund-raising or corporate function?
Need a fun-filled active night?
What about running a good old Aussie bush dance?
Bush dancing is easy, there is no dancing experience needed and
all the dances are taught on the night. Dress can be smart casual or
an "Australiana" dress theme for a bit of extra fun, and comfortable
shoes suitable for active dancing. Guests don't need to come with a
partner and many of the bush dances are great mixers done in sets of
2, 3 or more people so everyone gets a chance to dance.
Running a bush dance is as easy as 1-2-3
1) Contact The Bush Dancers display group on 6161 2426 or
Dance@pcug.org.au. We can discuss suitable dates and suggest bands
that you can contact. We can also advise on venues.
2) Book a venue and band. There is a list of venues at dance.pcug.org.au/venue.htm
3) Promote your event. We can help with wording for your publicity
and media release contacts etc.
The band will come with a caller to teach and
call the dances. The Bush Dancers display group can perform costumed
demonstrations of the dances followed by audience join-in. They can
mix in with the sets to help the dances flow.
The bands will advise you of their fee when you contact them. The
Bush Dancers display group do not charge but if you would normally
pay a performance fee then a donation to the Monaro Folk Society is
welcome.
The Bush Dancers display group is an activity of the Monaro Folk
Society. A copy of our Insurance Certificate is available on request.
The aim of The Bush Dancers display group is to promote bush dancing
and Australian traditional music.
